The problem
An Ocean Park cafe found their walk-in cooler climbing above safe food-storage temperature overnight, putting stock at risk ahead of a health inspection.
What we did
The evaporator had iced over completely because the defrost cycle was not terminating. We replaced the defrost termination control, cleared the ice, replaced two failed door gaskets and a worn door closer, and cleaned the condenser. We then monitored a full pull-down and defrost cycle on site.
The outcome
Box temperature returned to spec and held overnight. The failing door hardware had been the root cause of the excess ice load.
